ISUB500-18GM45
M18 Short Range Stainless Steel Ultrasonic Distance Sensor
Compact stainless-steel construction, a 30 mm blind zone and configurable output variants for close-range automation, packaging and OEM equipment integration.

The ISSR ISUB500 short range sensor ultrasónico provides non-contact distance detection from 30 to 500 mm for compact automation equipment. By measuring acoustic time of flight rather than reflected light intensity, it reduces dependence on target color and optical transparency. Its 30 mm blind zone, 0.85 mm resolution and compact threaded housing support installation near packaging materials, transparent containers and liquid surfaces. Engineers can select analog, switching or combined-output versions to match PLC inputs and process-control requirements. Meanwhile, built-in temperature compensation helps manage changes in sound velocity, although residual drift and initial warm-up must still be considered.
Key Engineering Benefits of the Short Range Ultrasonic Sensor
- Close-Range Non-Contact Mounting — Zero Mechanical Wear Points
The ISUB500 series features a 30 mm blind zone y a 35–500 mm adjustable sensing range, enabling close-proximity installation while preserving a valid acoustic sensing path. In packaging machinery and roller processing equipment, the sensor delivers continuous, non-contact material monitoring—eliminating the need for contact rollers or additional mechanical wear points. Simply maintain a mounting clearance beyond the blind zone along the machine travel path to achieve stable, reliable close-range detection.
- Flexible System Integration — Independent of Target Optics
Available in analog, switching, and combined output variants, the ISUB500 series adapts to any PLC architecture. Use analog output for roll diameter trend measurement, or the E7 dual-NPN configuration for two independent alarm thresholds. Output options and pin assignment depend on ordered configuration.
At approximately 200 kHz, ultrasonic time-of-flight (ToF) detection is unaffected by target color or transparency—ideal where photoelectric sensors fail. Note: small curved bottles, angled surfaces, and sound-absorbing materials require field testing.
- Source-Level OEM Customization
As the original source manufacturer, ISSR delivers in-house MCU and output circuit development, PC-based configuration software, and serial interface support. OEM partners can work directly with our engineering team on firmware customization, teach-in wire assignment, output protocol, and special pin functions. All custom options are subject to hardware compatibility, sensing range, and validation criteria.
PREGUNTAS FRECUENTES
Which short range ultrasonic sensor output should I choose for a PLC?
Elige 4-20 mA for compatible current-input modules, 0–10 V or 0–5 V for voltage inputs, and NPN/PNP for discrete threshold detection. Confirm input polarity, connector pinout and supply requirements before ordering.
Can a compact ultrasonic distance sensor detect transparent liquids through foam?
A compact ultrasonic distance sensor can detect suitable liquid surfaces independently of optical transparency. However, it is not universally immune to foam. Thick or sound-absorbing foam may reduce the echo or cause detection of the foam surface rather than the liquid beneath it.
Provide ISSR with the liquid type, foam condition, mounting distance and condensation risk for application evaluation.
How do I commission or customize an ultrasonic proximity sensor?
Install the ultrasonic proximity sensor perpendicular to the target and verify the exact model’s teach-in procedure. The analog manual restricts learning to the first five minutes after power-up.
The analog manual also contains differing teach-pulse timing descriptions; confirm the approved procedure with ISSR before commissioning. Allow approximately 30 minutes for thermal stabilization before final accuracy checks.
For OEM/ODM projects, send the required output type, pin functions, serial protocol and acceptance criteria. ISSR can assess compatible software, adapter and firmware options.
