ISUB30-16GK12

ISSR 300kHz Ultrasonic Material Testing Sensor for Robotic Vacuum Cleaners

Features:

The ISUB30-16GK12 is designed for seamless integration and delivers powerful performance in a variety of home environments:

  • Precise Material Recognition: Reliably distinguishes between hardwood floors, tile, and various carpet piles.
  • High Frequency: Operating at approximately 300 kHz, it offers higher resolution compared to standard low-frequency sensors.
  • Environmental Adaptability: Unlike optical sensors, this ultrasonic solution is unaffected by floor color, transparency, or ambient brightness. It works perfectly even in darkness.
  • Easy Integration: Utilizing a standard TTL232 interface and compact VC connectors (1.25 mm pitch), it allows for quick installation.
  • Durable Design: With an IP65 protection rating, it withstands the dust and moisture commonly encountered in vacuuming operations.

The ISUB30-16GK12 ultrasonic material sensor, a high-precision component designed for the smart home industry, is key to enabling intelligent floor detection in robotic vacuum cleaners.

Unlike standard proximity sensors, this 300kHz sensor goes beyond simple distance measurement. It analyzes the acoustic characteristics of the surface beneath, allowing your device to instantly distinguish between hard and soft surfaces.

How the Ultrasonic Material Sensor Works

The core function of this ultrasonic material sensor is to analyze the attenuation of echo energy. When the sensor emits ultrasonic waves:

Hard surfaces (wood floors, tile, marble): produce a clear and strong echo, instructing the robot to maintain standard vacuuming mode or initiate mopping mode.

Soft materials (carpets, rugs): absorb a large amount of sound energy, resulting in a weaker echo. This detection function triggers the robot to automatically increase suction (“carpet boost”) or lift the wet mop pad to prevent damage to the carpet.

Typical Applications

300 kHz Ultrasonic Material Inspection Sensor for Detecting Different Flooring Materials application

In typical home settings, floors often consist of a mix of materials such as hardwood, tile, and carpet. Robotic vacuums equipped with an ultrasonic material identification sensor can continuously detect surface changes by analyzing how different materials attenuate ultrasonic signals—hard surfaces produce strong echoes, while soft carpets absorb more energy and yield weaker reflections. This enables the robot to accurately identify the floor type and automatically adapt suction power, brush speed, or cleaning mode for smarter and more efficient operation.
